Hi all!
We've made a couple of adjustments to our lineup in order to take advantage of some fun events happening around town (or well, really, online...).
March is the month we've really changed. On March 29, when we would normally meet, we'll attend the CLC Kreisel Lecture by Vivek Shraya, online at 7 pm. On Wednesday, March 31, there is a CLC Brown Bag lunch online meeting with Cicely Belle Blain! Then that evening we'll meet to chat about her book, Burning Sugar at 7 pm. Kimiko Tobimatsu's book moves to November.
Here're the revised lineup:
January: The Subtweet by Vivek Shraya
February: Polar Vortex by Shani Mootoo
March: Burning Sugar by Cicely Belle Blain (on March 31) (March 29 attending lecture by Vivek Shraya)
April: Coconut by Nisha Patel and Postcolonial Love Poem by Natalie Diaz
May: We Have Always Been Here by Samra Habib
June: Fiebre Tropical by Juliana Delgado Lopera
July: Noopiming: The Cure for White Ladies by Leanne Betasamosake Simpson
August: The Athena Protocol by Shamim Sarif
September: Scarborough by Catherine Hernandez
October: Like a Boy but Not a Boy by Andrea Bennett
November: Kimiko Does Cancer by Kimiko Tobimatsu and Keet Genitza and Iron Goddess of Mercy: A Poem by Larissa Lai
If you haven't attended such online lectures before now, I highly recommend it! I sat in on a lecture by Leanne Betasamosake Simpson a few nights ago where she talked about Noopiming. It was so informative and now I can't wait to read it even more than before!
