HI all, We've selected a few more titles for the winter. As you know we're reading Calgary author Suzette Mayr's Dr Edith Vane and the Hares of Crawley Hall . We don't meet in December. January we're reading Jamaican author Nicole Y. Dennis-Benn's Here Comes the Sun . February it's Fijian author Gina Cole's collection: Black Ice Matter . March is British author Helen Oyeyemi's Boy, Snow, Bird .

Such a great discussion of Dawn Dumont's Nobody Cries at Bingo last night, especially with a few new faces. In honour of the victims of the Quebec City attack, we've chosen two lesbian Muslim authors for February and March: If You Could Be Mine by Sara Farizan, a young Iranian American author, and A Map of Home by Randa Jarrar, another Arab-American. In April we'll read Michelle Tea's latest, Black Wave . May we'll read Charlotte Wood's  The Natural Way of Things . Some other options we'll likely be adding to our reading list: Emma Donoghue's The Wonder . Zoe Whittall's The Best Kind of People . Stella Duffy's London Lies Beneath . Gina Cole's Black Ice Matter . Tara Clancy's memoir The Clancys of Queens . Nicole Dennis-Benn's Here Comes The Sun . Carellin Brooks' One Hundred Days of Rain . Miranda July's The First Bad Man . Hi all, IMPORTANT DATE CHANGE! Just this once, our October meeting won't be the last Monday of the month - because the last Monday of the month is Halloween and our members want to be home trick or treating with their kids. So this month's meeting will be Monday October 24, 2016. Don't miss it!!! Last month's meeting was a great discussion of Loving Eleanor . Not big fans of this one - can't recommend it, although it did pique curiosity about Eleanor Roosevelt and Lorena Hikock in general. Remember, October's title is Gabby Rivera's Juliet Takes a Breath . In November, we're reading Thanhha Lai's Listen, Slowly . December we don't meet. January's title is Becoming Nicole by Amy Ellis Nut and February we're reading Nalo Hopkinson's Sister Mine . See you soon!

Hi all, We've added a bunch of titles to our reading list. I hope you'll check them out and join us! We don't meet in December. With all the holidays, no one seems to have the time to make book club happen that month! In January, we'll read Toronto author Farzana Doctor's newest title, All Inclusive . Very excited and hoping to hook up with Farzana to discuss! In February it's Dirty River by Leah Lakshmi Piepzna-Samarasinha. In March we'll read Under the Udala Trees by Chinelo Okparanta. April's title is The Walk-In Closet by Abdi Nazemian. May we'll read Yabo by Alexis De Veaux. And finally in June we are going to read Vancouver's Amber Dawn in her memoir How Poetry Saved My Life.
